Abstract
Large black & white photograph of the Dolmetsch family, mounted on board. Back row, left to right: Leslie Ward (Cecile's husband), Carl Dolmetsch, Rudolph Dolmetsch, Millicent Dolmetsch (Rudolph's wife), George Carley (Nathalie's husband). Front row, left to right: Mabel Dolmetsch, Nathalie Dolmetsch, Arnold Dolmetsch, Cecile Dolmetsch, Christopher Dolmetsch Ward (Cecile and Leslie's son). Cecile and Leslie later separated and divorced. Rudolph was killed at sea in 1942. When grown up, Christopher Dolmetsch Ward became a tax inspector. (Arnold Dolmetsch (1858-1940) was a friend of Percy Grainger's, interested in the recovery of early music and also a craftsman of fine musical instruments. He made many replicas of early instruments incl. harpsichords and recorders)
